Mother Goose’s Garden – Male Understudy

Emerald City Theatre is casting an immediate replacement for the role of male understudy, covering the character of Jack for Mother Goose’s Garden (Theatre for the Very Young, Ages 0-5).

This world premiere is an immersive production located in our Baby Theatre facility at 2933 North Southport Avenue. This role requires basic singing and guitar playing skills. Artistic Director Jacqueline Stone is casting a strong performer with teaching artist experience. The audition will be part performance and part interview. Currently the show is in an open run, and predicted to run through early Spring 2018. There are some guaranteed performances for the understudy.

Audition Date: Wednesday, August 23 or by appointment

Audition Time: 2:00 – 4:00 PM

Audition Location: 2933 N Southport Avenue

Pay: There is pay. 

Time Commitment: All performances are during the day. Daytime availability is required. 

Material to Prepare:  Sing 60 seconds of any kid or standard song (ex. Row, row row your boat, itsy bitsy spider). Play a simple song on guitar (you can combine this with the 60 seconds of song). Sides will be emailed if you confirm an appointment. We will read some scenes from the script.

 

Projections Designer

Emerald City Theatre is seeking a Projections Designer for our upcoming production of Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical. We are looking for designers well-versed in QLab, who can generate their own content, and are ready to explore new ways of incorporating projections into a show. Design meetings begin after Thanksgiving.

Emerald City Theatre is a professional non-equity organization in Chicago with an annual budget of 2.2 million, producing a season of seven plays, new work series, educational classes and camps, and two annual galas. Each year, Emerald City produces 4 plays at The Apollo Theatre in Lincoln Park, 2-3 plays at Broadway Playhouse (Broadway in Chicago) on the Magnificent Mile, and 1 show at Emerald City’s Little Theatre for toddlers. The performance schedule is year-round, with roughly 300 performances annually.
