Emerald City Theatre School Education Internship Summer 2012
Overview
We are seeking highly motivated, creative, and organized individuals to join our education team. Education interns will get the unique opportunity to assistant teach as part of the summer camp teaching staff at our Theatre School and offsite camps as well as perform administrative duties in our company offices.
Schedule of available hours includes:
Interns should be able to work full 9am to 3 or 4pm (depending on camp hours) or part-time schedules 9am to 12pm or 1-4 pm, Monday through Friday, from June 4 – August 24 (exact schedules will be determined by needs of the department and interns). Interns who are willing to start a few weeks earlier are also encouraged to apply. Schedule is flexible with other jobs and commitments. The internship is unpaid.
Learning Objectives
In the classroom, you will work on how to program and execute theatre classes for children ages 3.5-13; develop supporting materials for teachers, parents and students; learn how to put together a lesson plan and teaching materials; observe and practice actual teaching methods in the classroom as you work closely with world-class theatrical professionals. In the administrative offices, interns act as a general support system for the department by helping in areas such as parent/teacher communication, show study guides, craft and activity supply needs, and marketing support.
Qualifications
Must be passionate and have some experience working with young children (ages 3-13); have excellent communication and public speaking skills; must be detail-oriented and organized; ability to problem solve and multi-task efficiently; have a general knowledge and passion for the theatre and theatre education. Prior experience using Microsoft Office and computer proficiency is desired.
