Emerald City Theatre School Session I September 29 – January 22 14 weeks At Emerald City Theatre we love to have fun! And we know that children who participate in theater have greater self-confidence, improved literacy and math skills and greater problem solving skills. In Session 1 we focus on the process of creating characters and stories. While doing these things we are also building confidence, building teamwork and building community. Come join us!

Sat 9am Fairy Tales

This imaginative class encourages children to explore the basics of storytelling, including conflict, character, and setting. Popular Fairy Tales will provide the inspiration for this movement and ensemble building session. Students will present their own unique fairy tale on the last day of class!

Sat 10am or Tue 3pm Pirates and Mermaids

Ahoy Matey! If your child loves to explore life above and below the high seas, they’ll love our swash buckling Pirate and Mermaids class! Actors will embark on a journey with Emerald City, as they develop their very own pirate and mermaid characters, solve treasure hunts, and crack secret codes. Our inspiration will be Melinda Long's award winning book, "How I Became A Pirate" and Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”. So walk the plank straight over to Emerald City for an experience you won't forget!

Sat 11am Triple Threat

Is your child looking to sample a little bit of everything? Explore a wide range of theatrical disciplines such as musical theatre, improv, and acting in one of Emerald City’s most popular classes. On the last day, you’ll get the chance to show off all of your triple threat skills!

Tue 4pm Musical Theatre

Emerald City’s hottest class is back! Students will get the opportunity to learn songs, choreography, and scenes from Disney’s hit movies, Aladdin, Jungle Book, and High School Musical! Work with Emerald City’s theatre professionals on scene study, voice and diction, improvisation, singing, and dancing for the full professional experience.

Mon 4:00pm Happy Feet TAP Class tuition: $210
In partnership with Chicago Human Rhythm Project

Help your child find his or her happy feet! This class teaches the fundamentals of tap dance, such as understanding weight transfer and combining basic steps to put together simple rhythm patterns. Give your child an opportunity to have fun, enrich their musicality, and participate in a long-standing tradition of tap dance, from the Hollywood screen to the Broadway stage and beyond. Sun 3:30pm Acting

Does your young performer dream of being in plays? Ever wonder how an actor takes a script from rehearsal to performance? Let Emerald City professionals guide your way with this brand new scene study class! Explore the techniques of analyzing a script, memorizing lines, and creating your own three dimensional characters!
