You can make a difference in another Family’s life…Today.

Part of Emerald City’s mission is to help bring families closer together by creating lasting memories.

Your family’s experience started a few weeks ago when you bought your tickets for today’s show.

You and your child imagined what the show might be like. Together you probably read the book on which the show is based.

When you arrived at the show, your child felt very important as a playbill just his size was handed to him.

As you walked inside the theater your child stared at the world created in front of them – the sets and lights immediately transported them to a world, up until now, they had only read about.

During the show, maybe an actor spoke to your child inviting him to take part in the action.

Maybe at one point your child crawled into your lap to snuggle closely, concerned that the hero in the story might be defeated.

You and your child laughed and clapped as the hero finally won!

Afterwards your child got to meet the heroes of the play, touch their costumes or props, talk to them and even get an autograph.

Once you got home you talked about the show. Maybe your child gained insights she didn’t have before.

Many Chicago families can’t afford an Emerald City ticket even though it’s not much more than the cost of a movie. This season, in partnership with the City of Chicago’s Dept. of Children and Youth Services and First Book, you can make a difference.

By making a donation in the amount of additional Child-priced tickets ($12 per person), you will help send a Head Start* child in need to an Emerald City show. The Dept. of Children & Youth Services will match an Adult ticket for every Child ticket donated. And First Book will put a brand new book into the hands of each of those Head Start children!

* Head Start is an early education program for children from low-income families.
