What To Expect

What To Expect At Camp

Step into an imaginative world! Engage your voice, body, and mind to explore your favorite stories.

Daily Activities

  • Creative drama activities based on weekly theme
  • Imagination games, simple songs and rhymes, crafts, and movement exercises
  • Reading and creating new stories

Skills Developed

  • Introduction to theatrical skills – character creation, ensemble building and performing 
  • Life skills – listening, following directions, teamwork, confidence building
  • Foster emerging literacy skills
  • Strengthen gross and fine motor skills

Final Presentation

  • 15 – 20-minute family showcase
  • Campers’ first experience performing in front of audience

Pinkalicious


Camp Description:

Come join Pinkalicious and her brother Peter on their journey of turning totally pink! This creative drama class will explore responsibility, eating vegetables, sibling relationships and, of course, the color PINK while having fun along the way! Pinkalicious will inspire our games, songs, and stories in class. Students will perform their own original Pinkalicious tale on the last day of class for family and friends.

Superheroes


Camp Description:

If you could be a superhero, what special powers would you have? Perfect for small people with heroic minds, students will discover their superpowers through dramatic adventures and storytelling escapades. Together, they’ll rescue the audience from villains! Superheroes unite!

Pirates & Mermaids


Camp Description:

Ahoy Matey! If your child loves to explore life above and below the high seas, they’ll love our swashbuckling Pirates and Mermaids camp! Campers will embark on a nautical journey as they develop their very own pirate and mermaid characters, solve treasure hunts, learn songs, and crack secret codes. The week culminates in an aargh-some performance on the last day of camp!

Princess & Knight Boot Camp


Camp Description:

Embark on a magical journey where dragons, princesses, knights, and magical creatures roam the castle grounds! Students will create their own fantasy world, incorporating real and fantastical creatures of the royal realm as they explore character development and participate in creative drama and storytelling activities. On the final day, students will present their very own games and story based on the skills they’ve learned at our boot camp for princesses and knights.

Dr. Seuss’ Stories


Camp Description:

Students will jump head first into the magical land of Dr. Seuss and his powerful and silly stories!  From a box with a fox to a cat in a hat to seeing it all on Mulberry Street, we will create our own Seuss-inspired world, incorporating real and fantastical creatures, and practice silly poems and rhymes together. On the final day, students will present their very own story and games based on the silly skills they’ve learned from Dr. Seuss’ Stories! Oh, the places we’ll go!

The Wizard of Oz


Camp Description:

Follow the yellow brick road to a fun-filled camp with Emerald City Theatre. Campers will dance and sing along to their favorite Wizard of Oz tunes and use their imaginations to play Oz-inspired games! Campers will create their own characters and an original story based on the beloved classic. Gather your courage, wits, and heart about you as campers present their very own Wizard of Oz story on the final day of camp. Watch out for those lions, tigers, and bears. Oh my!

Moana


Camp Description:

Motunui is in trouble and Moana holds the key to the island’s rescue. With the help of demigod Maui, how far will she go to save her people? With songs by Tony Award-winning writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, take to the ocean to tell this story of bravery and self-discovery. With memorable characters and catchy tunes, students are sure to sing the songs of Moana long after the final performance.

Frozen


Camp Description:

Arendelle is under the curse of eternal winter, and it’s up to the people of the kingdom to reverse the spell. Campers will explore this frozen wonderland filled with familiar characters and friendly faces. Each day our  teaching artists lead campers on wintry adventures with theater games, storytelling activities and special winter-themed crafts. Campers perform for family and friends on the last day of camp –  you might even hear a memorable tune that you cannot let go!

Fairy Tale Magic


Camp Description:

In a magical far-away theater camp, campers will set out to explore the fascinating world of fairy tales. Teaching artists lead campers in bringing classic fairy tales to life while learning about conflict, character, setting, and even story structure. By working together, campers defeat the villains of the forest and create new tales of their own. On the last day of camp, grown-ups will come from far and wide to witness the campers’ fairy tale adventures.

Policies

Potty Training Policy

A child must be three and a half by the start of camp and toilet-trained, to enroll in camp. To be considered fully toilet-trained, a child must be able to communicate the need for a bathroom prior to going, and must be completely independent and able to pull down pants, lift up a dress, wipe and redress themselves without assistance.

Cancellation Policy

Emerald City Theatre has the right to cancel a camp up to one week prior to the start date. Refunds will be processed if a camp is cancelled. 

No refunds available if purchaser drops a camp unless the spot can be filled from the waiting list. If a spot can be filled, a  refund will be given after the deduction of a $25 administrative fee. 

Switching of days/titles of a camp on or after February 1, 2018 will also incur a $25 administrative fee. There will be NO FEE charged for cancellations or camp switches made prior to February 1, 2018. 

Camp enrollment is only valid toward the season enrolled and cannot be applied to a camp in a later season. 

Nut Policy

Emerald City Theatre’s classes and camps are NUT-FREE environments. There is a strict no-sharing policy at all of our campuses.

Drop-off/Pick-up Policy

Drop-off begins 15 minutes prior to the start of camp of class. Children must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after camp or class ends. After the 15-minute pickup window closes, a late fee of $1/per minute per child will be charged and due upon arrival.
