Camps for ages 9 – 13 are 2 weeks long per session.
Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
(No camp Wednesday, July 4th)

Cost:

Summer Camp sessions for ages 9 – 13 are $775 per session ($700 for camps during the July 4th week).

Aftercare

Emerald City Theatre offers aftercare at our Athenaeum Campus location for this age group. 

  • Aftercare hours are 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Parents may pick up their campers at any time.
  • Aftercare cost is $250 per session. No daily rate is available for aftercare.
  • Parents arriving after 6:00 PM will be charged $1 per minute per child.

What To Expect

What To Expect At Camp

Engage in a full theatrical process culminating in a final performance for family and friends. Build confidence as you work with your ensemble on all the different aspects of a production.

Daily Activities

  • Create an ensemble and utilize the actor’s tools
  • Learn songs and choreography, practice lines and scenes, create costumes and props
  • Use formal theater skills during rehearsal process

Skills Developed

  • Theatrical skills: character development, musical performance, stage directions
  • Life skills: following directions, confidence building, teamwork, and risk taking
  • Motor skills: movement, rhythm, and music

Final Presentation

  • 45 -60-minute final performance for family and friends in a professional theatrical space
  • Campers have individual roles, memorize lines, and perform musical numbers with choreography

School of Rock


Camp Description:

Dewey might not be the best substitute teacher, but he sure knows how to rock! Join the most talented class at Horace Green Prep School as they prepare for their coolest class project to date – battle of the bands. Campers will explore zany characters and stage rockin’ musical numbers for a final show that is guaranteed to rock the house.

Hamilton


Camp Description:

Join Laurens, Lafayette, Mulligan, and Hamilton in the revolution that made America the country it is today. Our Hamilton-inspired camp will challenge campers’ rhythm and storytelling skills while teaching about the founding of the country through contemporary rap, hip-hop, r&b, and pop music. This final show for family and friends on the last day of camp is not to be missed!

ADVANCED CAMP: Wicked


Camp Description:

Take a trip to the Emerald City with Elphaba, Glinda, and Fiyero. A smash-hit musical prequel to The Wizard of Oz, Wicked will take campers to the next level in their performance skills with fantastic music, dance, and a story of being true to yourself. Learn what makes the Wicked Witch wicked, and the Good Witch good. Campers will be sure to defy gravity during their final show. Admission into this camp is by approval only. Newsies


Camp Description:

Extra, extra! Read all about it! It’s time to join Jack, David, and Crutchy as they carry the banner and fight for the rights of newsies everywhere in a musical adventure based on actual events. This camp will focus on building a singing and dancing ensemble while exploring characters and comedic timing.  Prepare to be blown away at a spirited final show on the last day of camp.

A Year at Hogwarts


Camp Description:

Go on an enchanted journey to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! Based on the beloved Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling, students will study potions, care for fantastic creatures, and come together to create a story about young wizards experiencing their first year of school.  This final show is sure to leave audiences spellbound.

ADVANCED CAMP: Footloose


Camp Description:

Campers will go on a journey where dance is brought back to the heart of a small town in our Footloose camp! In this stage musical phenomenon, students will rock out to classic 80s anthems including, “Holding Out for a Hero”, “Let’s Hear it for the Boy” and, of course, “Footloose!” With this high energy pop score, each camper will act, sing, dance, and, of course, ‘cut Footloose!’ Based on the hit movies and stage show, campers will work on vocal techniques, dance training, and scene study. There is just no stopping the music! All students will present a rockin’ final show on the last day of class. Admission into this camp is by approval only. August 6-August 17

Grease


Camp Description:

Get ready to hop in Greased Lightnin’ and ride back in time to Rydell High’s class of 1959! Campers will sing and dance to some classic songs from this rock ‘n’ roll musical. Join the T-Birds and Pink Ladies as they learn about the importance of friendship in a final show that will have everyone jumping and jiving!

Policies

Cancellation Policy

Emerald City Theatre has the right to cancel a camp up to one week prior to the start date. Refunds will be processed if a camp is cancelled. 

No refunds available if purchaser drops a camp unless the spot can be filled from the waiting list. If a spot can be filled, a  refund will be given after the deduction of a $25 administrative fee. 

Switching of days/titles of a camp on or after February 1, 2018 will also incur a $25 administrative fee. There will be NO FEE charged for cancellations or camp switches made prior to February 1, 2018. 

Camp enrollment is only valid toward the season enrolled and cannot be applied to a camp in a later season. 

Nut Policy

Emerald City Theatre’s classes and camps are NUT-FREE environments. There is a strict no-sharing policy at all of our campuses.

Drop-off/Pick-up Policy

Drop-off begins 15 minutes prior to the start of camp of class. Children must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after camp or class ends. After the 15-minute pickup window closes, a late fee of $1/per minute per child will be charged and due upon arrival.
