Emerald City Theatre School Summer Camp, Ages 5-6

Duration:	2 weeks per camp, Mon – Fri, 9am - 3pm
Location:	Athenaeum Theatre Building, 2936 N Southport Ave (unless otherwise noted)
Cost:	$750/session

All 5 – 6 year old camps will feature a final public performance at 12:45pm on the last day!

The Little Mermaid
June 18 – 29

The Little Mermaid Description

Our instructors will help campers dive right in to the hit musical The Little Mermaid and take beginning steps into the skills of line memorization, developing characters, and having fun. This mini-version of the full-length show will contain a collection of selected songs such as Under the Sea and original scene work created in class that will allow all campers a chance to take their theatre experience to the next level. The ensemble will give a final presentation of all their hard work on the last day of camp. So what are you waiting for? Come on in, the water’s fine!

The Lion King
July 2 – 13 (no class July 4)

The Lion King Description

Our campers will use the hit musical The Lion King as their camp source material and take beginning steps into the skills of line memorization, developing characters, and having fun. This mini-version of the full-length show will contain a collection of selected songs such "I Just Can’t Wait to Be King" and "Hakuna Matata," dancing, and scene work developed by the students. The ensemble will give a final presentation of all their hard work on the last day of camp. We’re getting jungle fever just thinking about how much fun this camp will be! Rawr!

Wizard of Oz
July 16 – 27*

Wizard of Oz Description

Follow the yellow brick road to Emerald City summer camp where you and your new friends will develop a mini musical based on the scenes from the famous story and movie! Dance and sing along to tunes such as We're Off to See the Wizard, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and Merry Old Land of Oz! Gather your courage, wits, and heart about you as you journey through Oz together, but watch out for those lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! The ensemble will give a final presentation of all their hard work on the last day of camp.

Location

*There are two sections of Wizard of Oz. One section will be held at the Athenaeum Theatre Building, 2936 N. Southport. The other section will be held at Theatre Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. Grown-ups will receive a camp handbook 1-month prior to the camp that will tell you which location your child has been assigned to at that time.

Mary Poppins
July 30 – August 10

Mary Poppins Description

This "practically perfect" camp will explore the magical tale of a nanny who brings the joy of discipline and family into two children’s lives. Songs from the new Broadway hit and the classic movie include "A Spoon Full of Sugar," "Let's go Fly a Kite," and "Chim Chim Cher-ee!" The ensemble will give a final presentation of all their hard work on the last day of camp. It’s going to be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Adventures of Junie B. Jones

Adventures of Junie B. Jones Description

WOWIE! WOW! WOW! It’s everyone’s favorite first grader, Junie B. and her pals Herbert, Sheldon, May, Jose, and Lucille bringing you an acting camp full of surprises. Knowledge of the books isn’t necessary, as our professionals will lead campers through an exploration of the characters, plays, and songs of Junie B. A special focus will be given to diction, comic timing, and ensemble work. Campers will create their very own original Junie B. adventure, presented on the last day of camp!
