Read More, Be More
You helped raise $95,000 for Emerald City Theatre’s Artistic, Education, and Outreach programs!
On March 2, you gathered at Alhambra Palace for Read More: Be More: A Seussian Celebration of Arts and Literacy to celebrate partners and supporters of Emerald City Theatre’s signature outreach program, One Fund, which provides a free performance and a free companion book to low-income CPS students.
You laughed along with our host, WGN-TV’s Ana Belaval, enjoyed a sneak peek of ECT’s upcoming production of The Wiz, and honored One Fund’s biggest champions – AMITA Health, Crown Community Academy, and Rick and Mary Van Horne. You were also the first to hear that ECT will be partnering again with Magic Tree House author Mary Pope Osborne for the One Fund next season!
Most importantly, you helped raise $95,000 which will go toward next season’s Artistic, Education, and Outreach programs!
The night culminated with a surprise gift from North Avenue Day Nursery, closing its doors after 109 years in operation. Excess wind-down funds are being donated to nonprofits serving low-income children. Emerald City Theatre is thrilled to be among the chosen recipients. The $500,000 gift will be used to eliminate company debt and establish cash reserves, ensuring a far more secure future for the company.
