Before the Show
The Pre-show Activity!
Be sure to arrive at the theatre early so you can take part in our pre-show activity! Before every Emerald City show there will be an activity in the lobby related to the show. Often you will create a prop that will then be used in the play.
When should we arrive?
You’ll want to build in time for parking, picking up your tickets, the pre-show activity, and maybe a bathroom trip before the show starts. We recommend that you plan to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to show time.
During the Show
How long is the play?
Most Emerald City plays are about an hour long. Feel free to call (773-529-2690) for an exact run time. There are never intermissions during an Emerald City play.
What should I do if my child becomes noisy or restless?
Sometimes kids just need a break - especially the littler ones. If your child is becoming disruptive to those around you please exit through the rear of the theater and take them to the lobby until they are ready to return. Feel free to request an aisle seat if you would like to be ready for a "quick escape!"
If your child would be better suited to a more free-range theatrical experience, consider attending a Play With Me Play at Emerald City’s Little Theatre. These ‘no-rules’ plays immerse you and your child in a magical environment for exploration and play. Learn more >
How are age recommendations for each play determined?
Our age recommendations are general and based on the show theme, language, run time, and balance of dialogue to music. Grown-ups make the final decision for their child. Feel free to contact the Emerald City Administrative Office at (773) 529-2960 to discuss specific recommendations.
After The Show
