Age Ranges

Ages 3.5 – 5

  • Skills: Creativity and imaginative play activities focus on exploring the world around you! Students will learn about their actors’ tools: the body, the voice, and the mind. 
  • This Class is for: Budding actors ready for an hour away from home who are potty trained and ready for fun! (Please see full potty-training policy.)  
  • Showcase: On the last day of class, join us for a 15-minute showcase of class activities. 

Ages 5 – 8  

  • Skills: Students are introduced to the fundamentals of story and plot while immersed in adventures and quests.  
  • This Class is for: Emerging readers who want to learn simple lines and work in collaboration as an ensemble. This class is best for kids who have attended full-day school or camps.
  • Showcase: On the last day of class, join us for a 20-minute showcase of our new stories!

Ages 7 – 13

  • Skills: Confident performers learn about character creation and working as an ensemble as well as learning songs and choreography within our theme-based classes that integrate musical favorites.
  • This Class is for: The young artist who wants to develop confidence and collaboration skills.
  • Showcase: On the last day of class, join us for a 30-minute showcase of an original performance! 

Ages 9 – 13

  • Skills: Students will hone their musical theatre and acting skills through lines, choreography, and music – both classic and modern. Students will receive feedback to grow as individuals and as an ensemble.
  • This Class is for: The theater lover who wants to sing, dance, and meet new friends this Spring.
  • Performance: On the last day of class, family and friends are encouraged to join us for a 30-minute showcase of songs, scenes, and choreography prepared by our students in a professional space!

Advanced Youth Ensemble: Ages 7 – 13

  • Skills: Actors will audition for specific roles and learn lines, complex music and choreography, and be challenged to create real characters for a final show in a professional space. 
  • This Class is for: The artist who has participated in at least one script-based class or camp and wants a more robust theatrical experience twice a week.
  • Performance: Joins us for a 45-minute final performance in a professional space.
Note: No application is required for Advanced Youth Ensemble.

Advanced Teen Ensemble: Ages 12 – 15

  • Skills: Our most experienced actors will audition for specific roles and learn lines, complex music and choreography, and be challenged to create real characters for a final show in a professional space.
  • This Class is for: The experienced artist who has participated in at least one script-based class or camp and wants a more robust theatrical experience twice a week.
  • Performance: Joins us for a 60-90 minute final performance in a professional space.
Note: No application is required for Advanced Teen Ensemble.

Circus Caravan


Class Description:

Step right up and check out this exciting circus-themed class! Our ring leaders will lead lions, tigers, elephants, horses, ballerinas, and clowns through activities to learn how to be brave and make friends, all while learning new songs along the way. On the last day of class, join us for our very own world’s greatest show!

The True Story of Three Little Pigs


Class Description:

What are three little pigs to do when they are forced to make it out in the big world? In this creative drama class, students will watch out for wolves and go on a “pig-tastic” journey filled with hay, sticks, bricks, music, and fun! This class is a curly adventure not to be missed! Students will show off what they’ve discovered along the way on their final day of class.

Galaxy Blast!


Class Description:

Put on your space suit and get ready for the coolest adventure yet! Students might become astronauts, aliens, or even space robots as they whiz past planets, stars, and galaxies. Space explorers will play theater games, soar through their imaginations, and sing out of this world songs. On the last day of class, family and friends join us in our space shuttle for our original star-studded showcase!

Magic Tree House Adventure


Class Description:

Dinosaurs! Knights! Mummies! Join the Magic Tree House team of Jack and Annie on their theatrical adventures around the world! Students will go on a noble quest through time to meet famous characters, solve riddles, and save the day. Young artists will create their very own original Magic Tree House adventure with songs and dance moves presented on the last day of class.

Advanced Youth Ensemble, Ages 7-13: Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, KIDS


Class Description:

Our Advanced Youth Ensemble will travel through the chocolate factory to present a fresh version of this classic story. Students will meet twice a week to cover acting techniques, learn songs and choreography, and stage their performance for the last day of class. Students can look forward to working with a pre-professional licensed script and performing in a professional theater venue. The surprises that await are nothing short of pure imagination!

Fairytale Remix


Class Description:

Join us as we sing and dance our way through enchanted forests where dragons roam and royalty rules. Young artists will create their own characters while learning acting techniques, building an ensemble with their class, learning songs, and creating original dances. On the last day of class, join us for a final showcase that will end happily ever after!

Modern Musical Theater


Class Description:

Calling all musical theater lovers! Join us for a class focused on current musical theater trends: pop and hip-hop singing, contemporary dance, and acting through music. Students will learn how to perform in an ensemble, how to create compelling characters, and how to put together a show. This class is perfect for a musical theater buff or a Broadway beginner. On the last day of class, join us as your young artists showcase their original modern musical!

Advanced Teen Ensemble, Ages 12-15: Fame The Musical JR


Class Description:

Follow the talents of NYC’s High School of the Performing Arts on their inspiring journey through four years of challenging training. Featuring a high energy pop score, modern theatrical dance, and fun characters for each student, our Advanced Teen Ensemble will “light up the sky like a flame”! Students will meet twice a week to work on vocal techniques, dance training, scene study, and ensemble building to present a licensed performance on the last day of class in a professional theatrical venue!
Please note this class meets twice a week: Thursdays from 4:30-6:30 PM and Sundays from 4:00-7:00 PM.

Policies

Cancellation Policy

Emerald City Theatre has the right to cancel a class up to one week prior to the start date. Refunds will be processed if a class is cancelled.
No refunds available if purchaser drops a class unless the spot can be filled from a wait list. If a spot can be filled, a refund will be given after the deduction of a $25 administrative fee.
Emerald City Theatre has the right to determine minimum enrollment. A refund will not be given if purchaser believes the enrollment is low. Switching of dates/titles of a class will incur a $25 administrative fee.
class enrollment is only valid toward the season enrolled and cannot be applied to a class in a later season.  

Nut Policy

Emerald City Theatre’s classes and camps are NUT-FREE environments. This includes, but is not limited to, peanuts and tree nuts, including almonds and cashews. There is a strict no-sharing policy at all of our campuses.

Drop-off/Pick-up Policy

Drop-off begins 15 minutes prior to the start of camp or class. An ID MUST BE PRESENTED at pick-up in order to sign out a child. Children must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after camp or class ends. After the 15-minute pickup window closes, a late fee of $1/per minute per child will be charged and due upon arrival.

Student Cell Phone Policy

Cell phones, smart watches, and any other communication devices may not be used while class is in session. Students who bring cell phones must keep them in their backpacks and TURNED OFF while at class/camp. Videotaping/recording will be permitted on a case by case basis at the discretion of the teacher for the students’ own at-home rehearsal. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in confiscation of the phone until end of class/camp.

Potty-training Policy

A child must be three and a half by the start of class and toilet-trained, to enroll in class. To be considered fully toilet-trained, a child must be able to communicate the need for a bathroom prior to going, and must be completely independent and able to pull down pants, lift up a dress, wipe and redress themselves without assistance.
