Oh no! I started my career as a fundraiser with ECTC 20 years ago and have happily brought my son to see its wonderful productions over the last 4 years. I hope this suspension is temporary and that the board can find some way to help the company right itself.
I am heart broken to read this. I’ve done everything from acting to Improvising to designing postcards to bringing my daughter frozen camp at ECTC. They’ve done so much to bring the arts to underfunded schools throughout the city. This is a terrible loss for Chicago kids, parents, and artists.
Emerald City was one of my daughter’s greatest loves! We are heartbroken. Thank you for building her confidence and helping develop her love of theater!
As one of the handful of people involved in the beginning of Emerald City way back in the day, this is indeed very hard to hear. Karen Blanford Cardarelli and Alyn Cardarelli put their entire brains, heart, and courage into building it into an amazing theatre company for more than 20 years. Thousands of children throughout Chicagoland grew up with Emerald City, and learned important lessons along the way. So while this is incredibly sad news, the legacy of Emerald City will live on through them. My thanks and appreciation to all the staff and board members over the years. ❤✌
I can't find the words to express how heartwrenching this news is. I am forever grateful for the friends and memories I made with you all (COUNTLESS), and am so very sorry for the staff, children, and families who are affected. Thank you for everyone's hard work to bring the magic to us all for so many years.
This is such a shock. Emerald City Theatre has inspired so many young people and I have great memories of interning with them in 2013 as an education coordinator. I am so sorry to hear this.
I am just so sorry to hear this news! It was so lovely to have had the opportunity to work with ECT last year at this time.: everyone was so professional and kind, and the many, many kids who saw the show certainly benefited. Thinking of you all and wishing you well in this transition. ❤️
This was a tough post to read. I’m proud to have been a part of this wonderful theatre company from its early days. I’m incredibly proud that it’s been such a positive part of Chicago for 24 years! I’ve forever friendships due to this company and I’m forever grateful! 🎭🧡
This makes me sad. Thank you for providing our city with such great quality productions and education. we loved seeing your productions and look froward to seeing what’s next.
It sounds like donations would still make a difference! Let’s change this!
Sad news! My kids just discovered Emerald City last summer and were dying to return. Very talented teachers. Thank you for your contribution to children and the arts.
Emerald City will always be in my heart. I'm so sad to hear this news.
Much love to all of you. Thank you for being such a wonderful theatre to work with.
So very sad to read this. We have adored Emerald City on so many levels. Thank you for everything, and best wishes on the next chapter.
Much love to Emerald City Theatre. A great loss for Chicago's families and our theater community.
This is so sad! I remember doing my internship at ECTC.
I’m so so very sad. Emerald City theater productions and especially the camps have been life changing for our son. ❤️😢❤️😢
So disappointing! We were signed up for Willy Wonka in the spring!
Sad to hear this. We enjoyed MANY shows when my kids were younger. Thanks for the great performances!!
My very first acting gig was with Emerald City. This breaks my heart.
Will there be refunds issued for classes paid for in the next session?
No no no ! I love this place so much , this makes me so sad 😞
